Election Day

It’s Election Day!  As this is not a Presidential Election year, we know that many of you will choose to stay at home rather than vote.  However, Proposition 1 includes a proposed change in the Homestead Exception that could reduce your property taxes. “Taxpayers are expected to save $120 on average on their 2015 property tax bills, assuming that Texas voters pass an amendment that increases the school district homestead exemption by $10,000. The current exemption is $15,000, which has not changed since 1997.” (http://www.elpasotimes.com/story/news/local/el-paso/2015/10/30/el-pasoans-may-save-2015-property-taxes/74902718/).  According to the El Paso County Elections Department, as of Thursday of last week 9,188 out of El Paso’s 395,338 registered voters had voted.
